This is the first weird time that I have had to go through as a range owner. COVID-19. I want to balance being helpful with being safe.  But, at the end of the day we are a customer driven business, so if the customers care about it, then so do I.
I checked my main wholesaler today and they have under 200 boxes of 9mm in stock.  90 of which are blanks, lol. I may start an email list for ammo availability.  My concern is that it will take time for ammo supplies to get back and members won't be able to get the ammo they need to shoot at the range. 
I have seen a small rise in the amount of people contacting me to purchase guns, but I don't advertise that side of the business, so it's not surprising that no one accidentally finds me.   
We are waiting for the grass to cover at the range and then we will be open for business! Since only a few people at a time go to the range, and it's outdoor, the virus won't stop that.  But, ammo shortages may...

People have asked me about the new state laws and how they effect me.  So to that I say this... 
Being a gun dealer in Illinois is hard.  We have a state government which is intent to dig it's way out of debt not through frugal money spending practices, but on the backs of it's citizens and businesses.  In order to sell firearms in Illinois you now have to have a license from the state police.  If you need a license you can bet that you are going to pay to get it, this is no different. My license is pending approval, but I am open for business.  I am insistent that I started this business to get the gear and guns to the people who deserve them and I am going to maintain that goal as long as I can. 
Being a gun dealer in Illinois is also rewarding.  We don't take gun ownership lightly and we have some of the strongest hunting communities anywhere.  So to end this post, as long as you can stand it, so can I...   

Business is hard.  I am looking into expanding this business from my home to the outside world.  It all really comes down to one thing, money.  I would love to open a range and gun store that rivals a mall. A place where you can shoot guns, buy products, get a coffee, and maybe even have lunch.  But, gun businesses are a slow burn.  We have had guns in this country since it began, and we always will.  This year will be a voyage and I am looking forward to the trip.  I am playing all the options a little close to the vest, but I am cautiously excited.    

I think that it is only fair that we start with an introduction. I am Joe.  It would not be unfair to call me an average Joe.  I live in middle america, am about 6 foot and 200 lbs, I make a medium income and spend as much as possible on items that give me pleasure.  I have been in law enforcement for 15 years and last year made a change to that not being my full time job.  
I have always loved going to the range, but a few years ago my dad and I went to the range together.  Before long we made it a normal Sunday morning thing.  Now to be honest we could have done anything, rebuild an old car, rode motorcycles, but we went to the range.  It was perfect.  It was training that reinforces my career and lifestyle and it costs us about $12 bucks a weekend.  Even less if we just blink with .22.  We spend more time talking and figuring out problems than we do shooting sometimes, but... I think that we all know that it doesn't matter.
I started Half God Tactical because I wanted to buy cheap guns for my friends, then my friend's friends came in and now I feel like I have a good steady, all be it small, but loyal group of dudes and a few ladies that I would not trade for anything.  Thanks to all who have supported this journey.
